2020 WA Wetland Management Conference

CALL FOR PLENARY, POSTER & WORKSHOP PRESENTATIONS

2020 WA Wetland Management Conference

31st January 2020, 9 am – 4 pm

‘Celebrating World Wetlands Day’

The Wetlands Centre Cockburn invites all interested persons to contribute plenary, poster and/or workshop presentations to its 16th annual WA Wetland Management Conference on Friday 31st January 2020 in celebration of World Wetlands Day. The primary objective of the Conference is to provide an annual opportunity for the exchange of information and ideas with a focus on the latest developments about how to effectively manage and restore wetlands. Past conferences have attracted 180 people including community conservation volunteers, landowners, local and State Government officers and private sector environmental officers involved with wetland management.

The conference will feature keynote, plenary and poster presentations, and concurrent workshop sessions and interpretive tours of local restoration sites. Groups are encouraged to contribute displays and other information. The conference program will be prepared in late November and speakers will be notified of their time slots and any other relevant information.

2020 conference theme

This year’s theme follows the Ramsar theme for 2020 of ‘Wetlands and Biodiversity’. Sub-themes include wetland management and restoration, wetland education and wetland policy.

The Venue

The conference will be temporarily relocated during 2020 as a result of concurrent building construction works that will enhance the future operations of The Wetlands Centre. The 2020 conference will be held on the western side of Lake Monger at the Bendat Community and Parent Centre, 36 Dodd Street, Wembley.

Registration fees

A call for registrations will be issued during late November. The 2020 fee structure will be:

  • Corporate registration $80 (paid for by your firm)
  • General registration $65 (members of the public or delegates from sponsor organisations)
