At The Wetlands Centre, we are a small community-based organisation at heart, and our volunteers are a big part of who we are and what we do. Our volunteers complete our team and make it a family.
We are proud of the inclusive and open culture that we have cultivated at the Centre. Our volunteers range from 18 to 90 years of age and come from all walks of life and rich and diverse backgrounds. We value each and every one of them. Their commitment and drive help us shape our initiatives, improve our outreach, and improve outcomes. We nurture relationships here just as we nurture the saplings in our nursery and our sustainable initiatives in our locality.
It is such a satisfying feeling, leaving the Centre at the end of a day of volunteering, having made new connections and having added new skills to your repertoire. Our volunteers are inspired by the resilience of the wetlands, our beautiful community, and the lush environs we continually work in. It is an enriching journey for everyone involved.

As you know, wetlands are currently under threat from climate change. Your local wetlands are being filled, drained, and/or replaced with agricultural fields, roadways, and/or urban developments. This leaves our turtles, bobtails, quendas and hundreds of bird and animal species homeless and stripped of a habitat. Your participation and involvement can lend a voice to the vulnerable wetlands and wetland species and ultimately help save them.
